Lol.. e cams are seriously not that heavy.. They are getting smaller and more efficient.. Just look at the ones in the new sails these days..

The cams help power the sail earlier and holds it in better.. Thus overcoming the problem of weight..

Its just like saying having a V8 engine and a V12 in a car..

V12 is heavier but then because it gave the car so much power it overcomes the issue of weight factor, allowing it to go faster..

Read the article and it is really helpful and puts a lot of questions I had into better perspective.

Did you have any problems understanding the article?  The rather theoretical nature of the explanation makes it difficult to follow and puts some people off.  I don't think there is any other way of explaining this subject though.
