having lived & sailed in HI & CA, i've heard good things about windwings from other sailors.

true, their race sails, even at the buy 1 get 1 1/2 price cost a bomb but are no more expensive than the RS5s.  devon boulon seems to be doing fairly decently on thier 2005 formula sails but, of course, that could mean a lot of things. i wonder if wearn haw & meng managed to get a look at boulon's sails while in portugal.

on the other hand their full grid hammers & bash-es are CHEAPER (go work it out yourself) than the equivalent full grid sails sold here (read: infinity, wave se & excess) if you take advantage of the superdeal (buy 2 get one free).

i'm also driven by the fact NO ONE HERE SEEMS TO HAVE STOCK AT THE MOMENT!!!

the only down point is the negative feedback windexpress' customer service has been getting online ... which is why i asked for CONSTRUCTIVE comments in the first place.

KNN, go do a bit of SIMPLE math if you don't believe me!  and yes, one brand can be that different from the others.  you never know till you try right?

s - apologies for posting about a potential rival here.  feel free to delete ... no one seems to have anything helpful to post anyway.

have just received my 3-sail bash/comp superdeal order from windwing/windexpress!

i must say that i'm quite satisfied with the service.  in fact, it was john chao who personally answered my initial inquiry.  for those of you who don't know who john chao is, he's the owner of windwing & gulftech & publisher & editor of american windsurfer.  pretty cool guy from the correspondences i had with him & i was pretty stoked to have my email answered by him.

anyway, my order was placed on 25 aug, shipped on 29 aug (with a fedex tracking number so i knew exactly where the package was) and arrived today.  can't wait to get those sails unpacked & rigged.  paid about S$650 for a 6.8mē bash.

still haven't sailed them so no comments on performance & build but just another alternative to keep in mind when you just can't seem to find any sails locally!

oh, btw, am in no way affiliated with windwing/windexpress ... just a guy who couldn't find (reasonable priced) sails when i wanted 'em!

S$650 for 6.8m sail and sent to you by fedEx? that's a reasonable price!!

Things are not that cheap in Sg nowadays! For some popular brands, the price is more or less about the same in Sg as in Europe BUT in Sg the GST is only 5% but it's ~20% in Europe. So the dealer's mark up is indeed high.

Most people in Sg use only the well known brands for sails, but there are many other brands which are just as good and good value for money as well, especially if one is just a weekend sailor. There is really no need to get the best and most expensive sail if one is not racing.
