Maybe this helps
I was told the closer the lines the gradient is higher and it means stronger wind. Just look at the equator ususally the lines are far apart => less windy.

PJ is right. Take a look at this website for a summary of how to read weather charts, do a search on google as well, tons of other sites with similar or more detailed info. http://ozzzy.dhis.org/meteorology.html

Well, after sitting at Changi Beach and waiting for wind over the weekend (got less than one hour of sailing), I see that the Change Airport wind meter today is 10knt++ since 11:30. Have just finished a "locally hosted" web-site web-site that can show current and past wind. January is a sad story compared to last year (at least looking at the statistics), but today seems promising (unless you are stuck in the office like me...)

GreatJob I have since used it as my homepage. IS better than the NSRCC which is not working now. Are you from PA ? Could you identify yourself?
Is there a way you could show the current wind direction as well.

Ulf, have posted a link to your site from our home page, will add another link from our links page tonight.
PJ, Ulf is a very long time sailor who uses a Drops out at changi. Originally from Sweden (correct ulf?).
Superb job on the website, thanks for sharing this info with all the singapore windsurfers.

quote:
Are you from PA ? Could you identify yourself?
I have my stuff parked at home (only got wave gear) and I'm primarily sailing (or waiting) at Changi during monsoon (got blue and white Drops 262x60 board with Yes 6.7 or NP Soul 5.7). Whenever I see potential for 10knt or more during off-monsoon, I go to PA.
Used to do wave/chop sailing back in the 80th (in Sweden) but when I moved to Singapore in 1988, I concluded that there was not enough wind, so I stopped windsurfing. After 15years, the “enough wind” threshold has eventually been reduced to a level where I last monsoon decided to by some gear.
So unless you sail at Changi during the monsoon, you probably haven’t seen me…

The source of the data that I use dont have the wind direction, but I think that the source is identical to that of wunderground (the data always seems to match), and I know that they have wind direction for the current observation, so I will try to fix so that the page show the current wind/direction.
I actually created another page that extracts the current wind & direction from wunderground. That page shows observations for kuantan, singapore(changi), batam and bintan ( Observations). It is very easy to integrate such observation into any web-page...Just follow instructions at wunderground...

I will look up for you. It sounds easy for you but I'm very impress with the site .May I know yr name so I could address you properly. I used to access NSRC website : http://202.79.69.26/asp_wind/wind.aspBut it has been down for a while. it reports a every 15 mins highest wind recorded. Usually if it gust above double digit, there is some wind at PA. The other site I checked is the : RADAR PLOT at http://intranet.mssinet.gov.sg/marine/Is good for SW (Mar-Oct). You could see the SW storm/magnitude approaching. Now I daily acces yr site to decide if I should skip work and do some sailing instead. From yr chart, it seems that last Sat was the best day, Did you feel that Changi?

My name is Ulf (surname Pettersson). I also find the radar picture useful ( Radar Image). A few days ago I sent a mail to NEA and asked if they could improve their service by providing an animation of the last 3-10 images (this way we could all see how fast the weather/storms are approaching)... With respect to Saturday, I missed most of the fun since I only arrived at 1500. By then the best was over and the place was crowded with smiling faces (I counted 25+ boards on the beach and I could still see that a few "regulars" were missing). It seems like the whole week was OK. Was working most of the week, but on Thursday I sailed more than 5 hours from 1300-1830 (started 1-2 hours on 6.7, with the rest of the time on 5.7).
