After a detailed and in depth study of the NE wind patterns over 20 years, we concluded :
1. It may blow from October to April.
2. As soon as its arrives, it goes away again.
3. It sometimes comes back at varying strengths.
4. The KL Faculty reported that it blows from Mid Dec to end Jan.
5. There is always more wind on a high tide, full moon or the second thursday of the month.
6. The best wind is when the cows are laying down, buffaloes fornicating or goats fighting.

Above all else :
1. Get plenty of equipment.
2. Never look at the weather forecast.
3. Get on the ferry or in your car and go to the beach.
4. Take plenty of beer in case it doesnt blow.

Good luck

"Dangerous to small craft" warning issued by Malaysia MSS!!!

Has anyone in Kuantan or further south actually seen the NE wind? (As K-21 said, "Never look at the weather forecast")

Tuesday was one of the best surfing days in many years. Waves were just rolling in head and a half high, totally glassy conditions from morning till bout 1pm. Super long left and right handers that were peeling down the line. For a moment I thought I was surfing in Bali!

Looks like the swell might stay till the weekend. Wind kicked in NE but 5 to 8kts for an hr or two before dying off again.

I had a decent session on the 7.6mē with a few regulars at Seasports on Mon afternoon.
Wind was NE and gusty and seemed to be early this year.

Oh, the dragonflys are here too...

The NE will be very easy to predict. I am injured so no sailing for 4 weeks. The consequence is it will be blowing every day for the next 4 weeks; it will stop exactly 4 weeks from today and re-appear again late Dec.
Mind you i did see cow's fornicating, buffaloes laying down and goats shaking hands, so who knows what will happen
Good sailing

MTB ????? Magic....a motor torpedo boat.
Please blast all Jetskiers out of the water.
The NE has been sighted recently  in Kuantan by the Father, the Son (and her indoors).
Apparently its been up and down like a whores drawers.
Just do it.....and if not, like Mr Ho go surfing !
If IJ doesnt know, nobody does.

Is there a better place nearby in Malaysia?

Waves today were a little messy after last nights storm. Still had some decent sized sets(full on overhead) coming in. Took a good wave on the head which resulted in a nice hold down and having my body slammed into the bottom in about 8ft of water.. Still have water dripping out of my nose. STOKED111

Waveman the waves here aren't always good like the past few days. Over here we look forward to what we call premonsoon waves generated mostly by Typhoons up in the North. Many times the Typhoon generates waves while the wind direction can still be South West which results in really good conditions as the offshore winds hold the face of the waves up.

Where have you surfed in Bintan? If you haven't been to Secrects or Shipwrecks with us then I'm afraid you may have missed surfing the better spots. Last monsoon we had a friend who lives at Bingin in Bali and surfs all the time, he had a few sessions with us over here and had lots of fun a Shipwrecks even when the waves weren't perfect. Said it was a good place to train.

Anyway don't give up on Bintan cause if you catch her on the right day, you'll be stoked. Drop by one of these days and see some of our pics and latest video of the boys surfing here.
