To the best of my knowledge these are the dates:

Penghu Pro Am, Taiwan 8 -14 Nov '04
Monsooon Madness, Malaysia 19 - 22 Jan '05
Mana Mana Amslam, Bintan, Indon. 26 - 29 Jan '05
Borocay FunCup, Philippines 31 Jan - 5 Feb '05
Marianas, Saipan ...no date that I've seen yet.

Mana Mana bookings can be made at www.manamana@pacific.net.sg

Perhaps race organisers could post their contacts to facilitate updates and confirm these dates.

Cheers

With the exception of Penghu, which can blow your knickers off - 40 to 50 knots race conditions the last event; the average wind range for the others is roughly 15 to 25 knots. Courses are either down wind, figure of eight and master blast depending on the race location.

If you dont want to travel with a ton of equipment, you could gamble on one board (such as Sonic 110, 120 Hyper 111, Thommen etc) 3 fins and 3 sails, 7m2, 8m2 9-10m2 range, depending on your weight.

Having said that - if an event is pushed for wind and a result, you'll find formula type boards on the water with you.

Veterans of the tour such as George Warren and Sukhdev could certainly help you narrow down your equipment choices depending on which events you plan to sail.

On the Mana Mana site we have pictures from the last few years which gives you a feel for the surface water conditons and kit competitors were using. Saipan and Borocay are more lagoon type conditions and Kuantan nice rolling swells. Penghu with its awesome conditions is certainly the odd ball - requires big ones, and very different equipment.

Hope this helps.

Hi RH,

Do you think I can get by with simply renting the gears from Liquid sports in Peng Hu?  or I really need to bring my own gears...

The problem is that it is such a long hull for me plus.... I am going to other places as well where any "Windsurfinf Equipment" is like brining a cow with me...

BTW, anyone can tell me where I can find the NOR for the Taiwan event which is coming shortly and "NADA" is available... wonder if the race is on or not...

Thanks again

If you e mail me at manamana@pacific.net.sg I will forward your equiry to one of the folks in Penghu who should be able to assist.

In the meantime will ask others to post their event contact details on this site.

CAN-535
Penghu is on as per the above dates.
The AWT site is out of date and (boss) Andy Owen is working on updating it now.
Whilst the Tour is fixed, Title Sponsor, pro riders and so on are still not confirmed.
Liquid Sports has a good selection of new Pyde and JP boards. These are available for rental.
The eqpt is mostly wave orientated. If you are slightly unfit or not used to seriously high wind racing, you will find the wave stuff hard work.
The locals use it year round so are comfortable with it.
The pros and keen ameteurs use small slalom boards and 5.0 cambered race sails. To give yourself the best chance I suggest you follow suit.
Response from Liquid Sports website is ponderous.
You could try Alex Mowdays mobile number from the site.
If you are doing  several events then the kit suggestd by RH will cover the other events but not Penghu. Having dragged kit around the world myself, I know the problems.
If you need further info, I'm on georgewk21@hotmail.com

Hi Everyone,

Just got an email from Alex Mowday...

He told me that this year the Peng Hu AWT event will NOT be on... every sad to hear that and also very disapointed with all the "politics issues"...

Just a note to let you know, in case you are still thinking of going...

Happy Racing!

Oh dear, what's next?
Was told by another source it has been changed to Nov-10 to Nov-14.
Any official representative from PS to verify or any accurate first hand official announcement? Which is which now?
