What do you hear in your head?

I've always got music in my head when I am sailing. Yesterday I was out and it was R.E.M "Shiny happy people" and I hate REM! Its usually rock though, sometimes country, snappy beats. Anyone? What do you guys hear? Anyone got a song they always hear in their head while sailing?

Hi Rob,

you must concentrate on your breath; and nothing else. At the right time breath in or out.

Take a bigger sail, so you must fight and you don't have enough time to hear the "music".

I guess Andreas is right, what I hear depends on the sailing conditions but in cruising mode, it can be anything, amazing what pops into the brain when its running in neutral gear.

Hi Rob,

I have the same "problem". I notice that as I get dehydrated during an extended session with no water breaks, that I seem to get bad 80's tune after bad 80's tune in my head. It's like I'm picking up a radio station that plays the worst of the worst. Songs like "Private Dancer" by Tina Turner, "I think we're alone now" by Tiffany, or some lame Menudo song (not that there were any good ones!). I'm cursed! Alhough if I take breaks, eat and stay hydrated, all I hear is the chatter of the board and the sound of the wind. I never get to hear the music I actually like in my head while on the water.

I don't remenber what I play in my brain when surfing, but I start surfing in my car when I listen rave. Also "Metalica" sounds very similar like chop beat to the boards bottom.
