Does this mean we'll be getting more wind?

 Great conditions?  Huh
"We have great conditions for our sport. Let's face it, that in most of Asia, you can sail all year round -- we don't have the severe winters of Europe or North America; we have great water, wind in most cases and we have a rising standard of living that people can now afford these boards.

Great conditions for "pumping" sail!  Grin Grin Grin

One way to popularise the sport to the masses includes providing cheaper equipment, like the RS:One board. -- This sounds like indirectly admitting that RS:X is EXPENSIVE!!. How "cheap" is RS:One anyway? does anyone know the price?

If by "great conditions", they mean having a bar literally a few metres away from where we sail, and plenty of shady places to sit down - yes we certainly are lucky!

we do have great conditions in Sing and the ability to sail like other people go play tennis. But you need to be sent abroad to realize that.

Great condition in this region will be when it gets to the point where people are only talking about windsurfing possibilities, not the pitfalls of our conditions.

Hello guys,  I have a good car, which doesn’t mean I cannot wish I had a better one!
Yes, we have good facilities and conditions to windsurf here in Singapore and I am grateful for it, but man, I wish we had more wind! So God wind, please com to us! (only to the ones that we are complaining, the rest no need) Grin

Observation: As a way of compensating for our local wind conditions, we have developed a culture based on spending the day at the beach regardless of wind.  In many other countries, you find out where it's honking, drive there, sail, then drive home.

There's a really great social atmosphere at PA East Coast on weekends - people settle in for the day, make themselves comfortable, drink beer (or perhaps something stronger), eat, sleep, tinker with equipment, skateboard, play soccer and so on, even though they're all really there for windsurfing.  It's kind of cool in a way.  I missed this when I was in Australia...a lot of people never get to experience it.  We're lucky in this way.  Windsurfing in some countries is a very individual, almost solitary activity.  I remember once in Australia, I broke a mast - and there was nobody to talk to! Nobody to laugh or cry with! Imagine that!

Having said that...GIVE US SOME WIND!!!  AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matt,
Many Singaporeans go overseas to windsurf. Why do you think we do that? Though we have great facilities (and we are very good at building that), it is just not windy in Sg.
The conditions in Singapore may be good for some, especially for beginners because they can't handle strong wind anyway.  Wink

Actually, I think Mr NP was referring to great conditions in ASIA and not SG. There are places in Asia like Mui Ne, Penghu, Penang, Kuantan, Bintan, Hong Kong and Boracay (the best, imo) with great windsurfing conditions. Sg has great conditions for NP to launch their RS:One because it is a class for the youth/ beginners' market.
