Rule are rules... when in Rome, play by the rules of the Romans. So if you are attending Asian Games, play by their rules.

It does not matter the objective of bring the Korean girl in... the fact is they have broken the rules.

Sportsman must be disciplined, if got no focus got no hope. Maybe we must start a new national team and nobody in the team must be older than 18, then could have hope to beat the Thai team.

The Thai youth team already better than our national team so what for keep pushing these old horse when sure they cannot win. Even worse some of the old sailor (cannot mention who) can still beat the national team member. This is quite sad.

All this media aside, with the 'support' the windsurfing team are getting, I'm not surprise why we are not doing well.

I think the two boys must have missed the whole point. It is Funboard not "Funbroad".

If you cant get force 6 on the water, better get force 6 in the room....woowoo!

I suppose we were all young once.....

Ye Old Boardsailors motto:- Boardsailors Do it standing up!

CB,

Your comments are rather unjust and suppresive.

I'm one of the so-called old horses (ex National team member). If u are well read and informed about us, then u shouldn't miss our best medal haul at last year's Sea Games since late Kelly Chans' time. We won 2 silvers and 1 bronzes in all windsurfing classes. It says alot about us.
If u want to talk about Asian Games or Olympic, then it is a different perspective.
Infact these old horses kept the sport going over the past few years till we switched over to Formula early this year.
F.Y.I there is a Formula class in the coming S'pore Open.

The Thais train full time without the worries of school, work and $$. So naturally, they are the best in this region.

Aside of our 2 sailors, windsurfing has always been a poor cousin to Dinghy sailing in S'pore. It seems the S'pore Sailing Federation (SSF) coffers most of the fundings and resources to their Bumibutra dinghy sailors and officials.

To err is human, our 2 sailors have been dealt with and sorried. Needless to torment them anymore.

Contrarily, hope u can be more constructive in enhancing our sport back to its hey days (late 80s till 90s).

Happy windsurfing.

Meng, my comment not meant for making people angry. We must admit the incident dont make windsurfers look so good. Maybe we must all try to encourage new young sailor.

CB,

Actually, there is a youth holiday training camp going on now.
They are a bunch of 18< yrs olds gearing up for the coming S'pore open.
Still the road is still far for them if they really want to be Thai-beaters.
Better than nothing
I take that u meant well.
By the way, CB sounds rather crude..u know what i mean

CB, your view appeared to be that of an armchair critic who knows nothing about what some of our 'national'
windsurfers had gone through jus to represent SIN in races. try giving up your job, get passed over for promotions,
sacrificed social life & your life savings for the sake of training. many think it's the fault of the windsurfers who cannot achieve results, they are not good enough, no guts, not talented. however, if u have any faint idea of how they are treated by Singapore sailing, you'll be sorry for saying all that. by the way, in ssf's eyes, there are no national windsurfers here. no one is getting a cent out of the kitty. it's easy to be armchair critic, as cowards are. if not for the 'national' windsurfers, the competition scene will be even more pathetic. to them, nothing is more honourable than representing the country. the under-18s?  they have a long way to learn about hunger, hard training and sacrifice. would it help the youths if they all retire now and sail alone, or will it help them better to have some seniors to spar with? it's not for self-glory, it's for the love of the sport and the nation. it's your problem if you think they are out to self-glorify.

fyi...those 2 guys were not trying to bring the girl in for dubious reasons, as some of you have said (hormones raging etc...)it's just a matter of a sleuth journalist sniffing the news and blowing it out of proportion. let's not discredit andrew...
who among you was there to give him water in between races in that cold weather while other windsurfers had coach boats dedicated to that race course. no...not for 6 days! our SIN coachboat was of cos in the dinghy courses. some of u try training alone everyday...if it's not discipline and sportsmanship, what is? we are as disintegrated as we are, no wonder we are not making progress in local windsurfing.

Sorry, rather crude on my part. Anyway, it's true on the part where there's no ration for him on the water while training. Heard he has to get his ration from the thai team... Talk about SG support in sports, only support sports that has already built a name for themselves more like it. Bet bowling's gonna get a bigger funding soon since that victory from remy ong

A lot of strong emotions...I'd like to see that as a positive thing and a reflection of our passion for windsurfing.

The incident is regrettable and I hope its a learning experience for all concerned. Lets move forward and reflect on what each one of us can do to further our sport.

peace...
