Thinking of doing a trip to Penghu in January or Feb.
A bit of google research suggest kit hire & accommodation is easy enough. And should find somewhere to launch to suit my skills (Intermediate).
Anyone been, and can offer any tips or pitfalls which the web might have conveniently overlooked?

You probably need to start at Alex Mowdays place in Penghu.
Its an easy launch.
There is a concrete slipway which is in  a very slight wind shadow.
Shoes are advisable.
The water is not cold but not as warm as the Equator.
There are other places with waves and a speed strip which inviolves a short boat trip.
Alex will organise that when there a few people wanting to go.
Sometimes he's not so quick to reply to e-mails !
Might be worth calling his mobile on 00-886-9267-88204
Its quite feasible to take your own kit if its small enough !
Dont forget that like almost everywhere else (except the Falklands) there are periods of no wind.
A few years ago I was there 10 days before it blew. Alex postponed the event until the wind arrived !
There is not much night life.....one pub.
Well there may be more but obviously at my age.......Please check and advise.
PS If really desperate there is a Mcdonalds on the High Street.

Thanks guys. Smiley
No wind and only 1 pub sounds a bit scary.
