Dear Guests, Friends and Members,
AMSLAM 2010 - Windsurfing Championship - 25 & 26 September
Mana Mana is pleased to be running its first Windsurfing Event since we moved from Bintan, Indonesia to the East Coast of Singapore in Jan 2008. The AMSLAM name derives from Amateur and Slalom. Slalom windsurf racing is the class name used to catorgarise hi wind and hi speed racing with a number of tight turns. During 14 years of operation on Bintan, Mana Mana hosted AMSLAM for 10 years and was part of the Asian Windsurfing Tour (AWT). The event attracted professional names in windsurfing such as Josh Stone-US, Jason Polakow, Phil Mgain & Robby Radis (Australia), Roberto Hoffman(Italy) and Dan Ellis(UK).
Asian windsurfers also frequently made the podium with names such as, Kookiat Sakulfaeng & Bo Ramsuap (Thailand), Ayako Suzuki (Japan), Yoon Sung Soo (Korea), Wearn Haw, Andrew Foo, Tee Cee, Rachel Ng and Catherine Chua from Singapore. A TV show was created following the AWT which was powered by the NE monsoon winds starting from November in Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Phillipines and Saipan.
Brining new challenges to windsurfers, AMSLAM continues in Singapore, and the event is open to a wide variety of windsurfing classes: RSX Olympic, Formula, Bic Techno 293, Raceboard and Slalom. Newcomers to windsurfing will also have the opportunity to race in the FUNSTER class.
The event will be complimented by an AMSLAM/ F1 BBQ Party on the SUNDAY night, where competitors and spectators can enjoy F1 on a giant screen with cooling sea breeze.
