Hi! there, everyone,

Singapore's YOG windsurfing squad compete at the Cittą di Civitavecchia Spring Trophy and YOG2010 World Qualifier.

http://www.techno293.org/page0124v01.htm

The Singapore team:
Audrey Yong
Amanda Ng
Jeddy Tan
Chuah Jun Ler

Team Manager: Anthony Nossiter
Coach: Jannicke Stalstrom

Amanda & Audrey finish 1st & 2nd in Race 6 of 8 races, this would be a historic achievement by our juniors in only their 2nd World event.

For the very 1st time in a junior windsurfing World event, Audrey stood on the podium and claim overall 2nd place, behind Isreal, with Italy in 3rd.

An excitement filled last race, sailed in light wind conditions, it must have caused the Singapore team manager & coach chewing on their nails until the Race Comm shortened the finish for the girls race to end the regatta.

It's surely very heart-breaking for Veronica Fanciulli, ITA, not winning on home ground, with her 1 pt lead from Audrey & Naomi Cohen, ISR, coming into the last race. As the light winds is to Naomi advantage, she followed her teammate home to the finish in 2nd, followed by Audrey.

The top 3 girls finish the event 1 pt from each other.

Veronica Fanciulli, will get her revenge against them in the T293 2010 Worlds in July, when she defends her World title.

Amanda has now finished ahead of Audrey in a race at 2 World events, with a 6th last year and a 1st this year. She's developing very well, including a 3rd overall T293 class at the Singapore Windsurfing Open this year. Team manager Anthony Nossiter must have rubbed some of the winning experience over to her, as he's crew to the super-maxi 'Alfa Romeo' which took line honours at the 2009 Rolex Sydney Hobart Race.

The juniors had a wonderful time mixing around with the other teams from where they left off since last year's T293 Worlds at Weymouth.  A lovely dinner gathering with the GBR team who stay at the same hotel.

Highlight of their time in Civi, with the Italian team, when our juniors met with Alessandra Sensini, who came to visit them after winning the RSX event at the ISAF Sailing World Cup event in Palma. The 4 little ones were thrilled to meet with a living legend and getting an autograph from her.

Regards

Paul Yong
