I think I prefer the rotting wood effect.

Of course if you really want a black carbon finish, much easier to buy the Exocet Warp 100 in the first place.

Some people find pleasure in buying new things.  Others find pleasure in restoring their old things to a new state.  It's a question of philosophy.  A chacun son gout, huh?

the deck was looking a bit rotten, so they decided to do some cosmetic surgery.
Board is actually a bit heavier ( i think they estimate it to be about 300g).
the gel coat on the bottom was sanded down, the wood was then also sanded to get a perfectly flat bottom.  they then simply sprayed gel coat again.

no strength added, only cosmetics. As for buying an exocet black machine instead, this board is quite different in terms of finish: you have the carbon weave look on the deck, as opposed to plain black like on the exo board.

What's the white coating he was removing from the deck with a putty knife?
Was that originally on the board?

Yes only the frogs could give you 1000 pictures in the wrong order and raise more questions than answers !!
But yes it does look very nice in the end (beginning / middle)

he put a layer of fibers a year ago and did a bad job of it :-). It had to be taken out....
He decided to redo it in a better way with the help of another guy.
they opted for carbon fiber look as opposed to fiberglass.

Ahhh . . that explains it. He's mixed up the sequence of photographs.

38mph, in case you don't already know, matt2000 is French!  He's been to Singapore a few times and will soon
be coming back to work here.

Sacre Bleu !
Cannot be........
C'est impossible...
He is plainly masquerading as a Frenchman.
Matt is obviously short for Matthew (or is it ?) which since the Middle Ages has been an English name.
Prior to that, it started in Greek times with Saint Matthew (also known as "Levi")
who was  a tax collector.
Happy Days !
The Rosbif.

I will be in Sing full time very soon. Finalizing the details at this very moment.
Hope to see all of you on the water! I can t take the London weather anymore  Wink
