"they will resort to protest room inorder to gain it."

Hi! there, Meng,

This form of race tactics is from dinghy sailing, as it's unheard of in windsurfing events.

That's why a sailor who knows the racing rules use it to their advantage.

As was seen at the Beijing Olympics, it's used to deny your nearest competitor a podium position.

"Audrey has managed to secure the Bronze medal"

Hi! there, Meng,

Thanks!! for you well wishes,

It's going to be a long road until the YOG2010 event.

Hopefully, with her bringing back the bronze, Singapore Sailing will send the YOG2010 squad to the World Championship in Weymouth.

As long as you race to ISAF rules, you have to live with protests.  It is part and parcel of course racing.  Anyway, it is good training.  You will see more of this sort of thing at the Youth Olympics.

"Well done Audrey!"

Thanks!! P.J.,

I know it's not a small bit part from me in Audrey's change to windsurfing.

Her development in dinghy sailing has a lot of windsurfing tactics & strategy which I told her to use, and it enable her to improve on her ranking, though she started late in dinghy sailing.

The main influence, I'd think, is the windsurfing community in Singapore.

Everyone that she met, they'd embrace her and talk to her, giving her lots of encouragement in her dinghy sailing, stories that's told will always make her laugh.

As we all know, windsurfers are a crazy bunch.

No other sport, can be crazy enough to sit and wait for the wind to blow everyday.

"so much could have been done over a period of several months."

Hi! there, Denis,

Thanks!! for your well wishes.

Nothing can be done to make a person want to do windsurfing racing.

It will show in their race results, because unlike dinghy sailing, there's no chance of a rest, like in dinghy sailing, until it finishes.

Audrey's fortunate to attend her 1st race in Pattaya, last year, and the Thailand windsurfing team love her to bits, and are her very good friends.

She can't wait to go back there everytime, especially, last year, when the airport's closed.

It's easier to teach someone who's afraid to go out to sea and frightened of the conditions, than those who has no desire in any conditions.

"As long as you race to ISAF rules"

I've always recognize one rule in the book Racing Rules of Sailing, but totally ignored by most, RRS 2.

2 FAIR SAILING
A boat and her owner shall compete in compliance with recognized
principles of sportsmanship and fair play.

In the creation of the modern Olympics, conceived by Pierre de Coubertin, the Fundamental Principles of the Olympics is written, no athlete can ignore it, because they took the oath at the opening of the Games.

Fundamental Principles of Olympism

4. The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practising
sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual
understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

Audrey represented the whole Asia continent, and every athlete who came to take part in AYG2009, by saying the oath at the Opening Ceremony.

If and when Audrey won't, forgot, slipped her mind, tried to think very hard and don't remember RRS 2 when racing, I will withdraw her from any event.

Thanks!! Matt2000.

I hope this AYG2009 event will be the catalyst to create a big rush to junior windsurfing in Singapore.

Audrey needs to start the trend.

Hi! there, m3l,

Now you know that Singapore windsurfing can get a medal, but are you hungry enough to really want it?

Thanks!! for your well wishes.

Next time you see me, I teach you how to plane in light wind.

I think it was due to financial constraint or something.. Nevertheless there is still YOG next year. Hopefully we will get to see Phi contingent!
