How so? I consider a true despo to be someone desperate to
plane, who never stops trying no matter how hopeless the conditions are...as suggested in my original post:
What qualifies someone as a Despo?
-If you sail out far from shore and stay there a long time "to wait for a storm"...
-If you keep buying bigger and bigger equipment in order to get planing in less and less wind....
-If you rig up and spend all afternoon waiting, even though the chances of wind that day are <0.001%...
-If you often get stranded outside in offshore storms...
-If you are usually the first one out and the last one back...
-If your work or family life suffers because of the amount of time you spend waiting for wind...
...you may be a despo.
There's no despoism in going out for a sail in light wind, when you are 100% sure you won't plane!
You do it for the exercise and because it's more fun than hanging around on the beach all day!

(I'm not saying I'm
not a despo, btw, just trying to clarify what constitutes a despo. Are all the students sailing club boards in light wind despos too? I think not!)
