"OD" stands for "Officer of the Day". He (I've never seen a she OD yet) is the race officer who is running the races for that day. The boat he is in is commonly referred to as the OD boat though the correct term should be Committee Boat because the OD and his assistants on the boat represent the Race Committee. There are some ODs and their assistants who have been known to be drinking on the job. In that case OD could stand for "over-dosed".
Why are you asking this question? Have you been taking part in races? If so, then congratulations!

OD (offen drunk) is not commently use now, more commently us term is Priciple Race Official (PRO) and assistants are know as Race Officials (R.Os).
The boats their in may very depending on their respective duties and refer to as Race Committee Boat, Pin-end Boat, Mark Boat, Gate boat and Finishing boat.

OD ?? Officer of the Day ? and his wretched boat?
PRO's RO's ?? Why does everything thats not broken have to be fixed ?
Anyway the OD is on his OD Boat...............
Which of course take me neatly back 25 years or so.....
And the miserable Medora was the OD on his super OD Yacht on the start line....
Well the beginner hit me on the start line, fell in, cried, recovered, started late, finished last
or whatever.
Cyrus then told me I had to protest..........or he would protest both of us !!
Ho Ho.....Moral of the story.......learn the rules.

Cyrus is in Kuantan now. Been there since before Christmas. I hear he has confined himself to the hotel bar drinking himself silly because there's no wind! Trust him to pick the wrong time to go to Kuantan.

Hi Denis, tell him to get out tomorrow because the "warning for small craft" for Pahang water is out.
Anyway, is he staying at De Rhu resort?

He's probably back in Singapore now. Anyway, looks like the wind is back again here.
