hi i tried using a 130 L board and find that it is too sinky for me. Just standing alone...1/4 of the board is already inside water..is it the correct volume for me?

My weight is 80 kg height 186..tried using 170 L and have no problem with it.

If you are a beginner then you are using the wrong kind of board.

In my opinion, it all depends on the purpose, skills and wind conditions.

Hard to say; depends on how much of a beginner you are and how quickly you can improve.  It's natural for the board to be partially under the water if it's standing still, but with even a small amout of forward motion it will rise up.  But if your ankles are underwater then it's too sinky for you.

Can you sail it?  If there's absolutely no wind at all, don't bother trying.  You need at least some amount of power in the sail, or you will just wobble around and fall off.  Is there any hope of you tacking and gybing on this board, or do you fall off every single time you try?

This should be a good board for you in stronger wind. But i doubt you have mastered the core skills yet and advised you to stick to the 170L board before progressing to smaller boards.

You are 80kg and the board is 130 litres, right?  I'm heavier than you, and I also use a 130 litre board.  You have plenty of flotation, even standing still!  Don't worry, you will NOT sink!

Have you taken a beginner's course?  You should've learned where to put your feet.  Of course, when sailing in lighter winds or tacking and gybing your feet will need to be closer to the mast...um...it's difficult to explain, but it will all become second nature in time.  Just watch and practice.  And ask someone at the beach.

Hi xtreme, are you in Singapore and do you sail at PA Water Venture?  If you do and if you see me at the beach, just come up and introduce yourself and I'll explain things to you.  It's much easier that way.

U must remember what is ur eventual goals. With 50L balance (130L-80Kg), u have plenty of 'reserve' volume
That 130L is may or may not be ur final board. Like i mention, remember ur basics, shortboard is not like club board
u cannot old how shift ur weight around, stay near mast foot, dont stomp around on e board, all movement must
be small n decisive.

U know where to find me
