Chris,

wind failed to materalise for Formula.
It was decently ok for IMCO, RSX and BIc-Techno longboards.

Organiser pressed for 3 races to make up a series (no discards)
most of the Formula sailors were 'roasted' under hot sun.

Penang mafia was disappointed by the 'famous S'pore wind', packed and left mid day to KL.

my secret weapon managed to help me to secure 1 1st in puffy 7 kts wind.

in the end, the mosquitos weight sailors prevailed in this 5< kts of condition (plus 3 kts of current).

on the hindsight, the Formula class managed to attract more than 10 entries which is a great response in 'race-shy' S'pore formula scene.

Well.. It took me awhile to realize what was a trapezoid course.. Then came the inner loop outer loop story.. Then the class flag and the rest of the racing essential.. Simply.. If you dont know where the marks are.. Just play follow the rabbit for the 1st race then im pretty sure you should know what to do for th rest of the races right? Lol..

That was basically my game plan - to follow the others - but they all started tacking in different directions, and I couldn't tell where they were trying to go.  Then after some of them made it around the first mark it got really confusing!

I counted at least 6 bouys out there, big ones, small ones, orange ones, yellow ones, plus the blue one which I later learned was the finish line, and there was a boat with an orange bouy on board as well.  Was that boat part of the course?

I still have a headache!!!!!!!!   Tongue

Lol.. I guess when the wind is light like the past 2 days.. Pick the lightest looking sailor and follow him.. When the wind picks up to a good condition pick " Mafia " Meng or Thye.. That way you shouldnt be too far behind.. Lol..

Seriously, no WAY did I come fourth!  I didn't complete the course; I'm pretty sure I did a big "V" shape instead of a trapezoid.  Or perhaps a  lower-case letter "d" shape. The only reason I accidentally crossed the finish line was because I wanted to ask the guys on the boat for directions...   Lips Sealed

I have to be honest about this; I wouldn't want the other sailors to be cheated out of their true ranking.  Is it too late?

Don't be so shy, take your 4th place with honour.

Next time you will know not to waste time doing a V course, just head straight for the finish line, no one's looking
