Monsoon Report Dec 2002
«

Yesterday night, I saw a guy driving a Nissan X-trail with shortboard rigs and all in Tampines, seems like he's been somewhere to check out what the northeast has to offer this year. Anyone else who has been anywhere recently care to share some details on wind conditions in the region? Bet lotsa windsurfers here would wanna know from an 'on-location' weather reporter rather than looking at weather reports on websites everyday. Any info would be DEEPLY appreciated.

There is a current High pressure spot somewhere north of Hong Kong and as such the North East Wind coming to the east coast is weakened. The current met report says the wind is only about 15 to 20knots in the South China Sea.
Give it a few days for the dpression to go and we should get stronger winds somewhere around Christmas.
Keep tabs of the wind on
http://www.oceanweather.com
and CNN weather forcast.
These two will help you plan your sailing.

Try the weather web site on Lycos. I think it's much better as it show the barometer pressure anything above 1000mb usual is a sign that there is "no real wind".
Lock on to Thailand if the pressure is Low (below 950mb) in Gulf of Thailand, would bring wind down Malaysia and possible to Singapore. We could then predict the possible arrival of wind in a about a weeks or two.

Hi , Pascal
Can you advise what size sail to bring to Vietnam
and board ?
I'll be visiting Vietnam somewhere in early January 2003 for windsurfing.Let's say a freesex starboard and a 5.8 metre sail will it be ideal for the condition there or otherwise.
Cheers
