Great speed Lee.

But it don't count for weekday sailors!!!

Markets are plummeting, recession on the door step, time to work and not sail.

We are watching.

 Grin well done ah lee.
i was left looking for bubbles from your wake. too fast for me. woohoo Wink
by the way,
how does this gps system work?
what time or distance span qualifies a speed to be official? e.g. does it have to hover above 60 km/h for 10 secs or for 100m before its official?

thanks

Yo, TC, from what I gathered it's the minimum time unit setting your GPS allows that's permitted here. I.e. the GT has a setting of 1 second, so any top speed burst sustained over 1 second will give you the maximum speed for that day.

I'm sure that the purists amongst us find this a bit dodgy. But then with conditions the way they are here in Singers, we're hardly going to pip Finian, Martin et al, so ratification schmatification.  Cool

In order not to get carried away with sailing during normal working days we would like to introduce a speed correction system(deduction) a bit like they intend to for GPS speed sailors without the Navi GT-11

So starting immediately

1)   Sailors who sail every day Mon-Fri deduct 5 knots from your GPS reading

2)   Sailors who sail 4 days Mon-Fri deduct 4 knots

3)   Sailors who sail 3 days Mon–Fri deduct 3 knots

4)   Sailors who sail 2 days Mon-Fri deduct 2 knots

5)   Sailors who sail 1 day Mon-Fri deduct 1 knot

6)   Sailors who sail on weekends only, please report actual speed clocked

We may consider allowing the adding of 1 knot to the times of sailors who have nagging wives and can’t sail as much as they would like.

Fendi is automatically eliminated and given a zero reading as he has a new toy that looks fast.

Swiss sailors can join the competition after showing evidence that they have actually worked at some stage of their life.

Just one word of caution, having your GPS in the car switched on and driving along ECP on the way to the club between  50-90Km/hr will not be tolerated.

7) Sailors introducing a speed correction system, add 10 knots, thereby doubling your maximum speed.

if using GT-11 gps,

u need to set it at 1 sec interval.
in this way, it doesn't factor in what type of duration timing or course distance.

right place and right time may help in determine PB.

There's a freeware on gps speed surfing called GPSResultsV5.22 that will help you analyse your 2s, 10s, 20s, 1 min; 100m, 200m, 500m etc.

Quite a neat program that plays pack your runs as well showing the speed of your tacks and jibes.

There are also other recommended freeware, but this is the one I have found the easiest to install.  The ones that require java script is a bit tricky to install.
