Sorry I didn't spend enough time to make the entire website bilingual. If you would like to visit the English part of our website, please go to Windsurfing in Northern Taiwan"
Or even better, visit Taiwan and windsurf with us.  Windy days are quite often here, 5.0 m2 is the maximum sail size in many local sailors' quivers.  My email is
jason@jasontsai.com.  Happy sailing!

hi jason

great site. BTW i've been to Tamshui before in 1992, early May. Met a group of real hardcore windsurfers at a local beach (near TamHai....pronounce?) and one outstanding local cab driver with his windsurf gears loaded on top of his cab. it was really really windy with min. logo-height wave sets rolling in....awesome....great to hear from you guys in N.Taiwan

Great to hear from you.  I havn't started windsurfing yet in 1992.  However, I know several windsurfing taxi drivers.  Some of them quit/lost their previous jobs and started driving taxi, so they can windsurf more often now.  There are also a few windsurfers who work (actually wait) at Taipei CKS airport and disappears when wind picks up at the beach just 5 minutes away.  These hardcore guys know their priorities.  Other less fortunate, more diligent 9-to-5 guys would start windurfing before dawn and then rush to office with a grin...

Looks like some awesome conditions. Wish I could have some of that. Looks like pretty sideshore to side off too... Especially now when the wind here is switching back and forth... depressing.

Makes me want to windsurf again....

If anybody didnt catch the Penghu event on channel 24, you really missed some windy sailing video. I didnt tape it (where is my vcr), if anybody did I'd appreciate a copy and will put it to VCD as well as stream off the website.

Yesterday was another good side-shore day with 4.0 - 4.5 sails here in Taipei.  Photos at 2003-04-05
If you guys like high wind and plan on to Penghu for the AWT event this November, welcome stop over Taipei and enjoy some wave sailing with us.  The closest windsurfing beach is just 5 minutes away from Taipei CKS international airport.

Jason, thanks for your interesting postings. When does the windy season start & how long does it last? Would a 3/2 wetsuit be ok or does it get cooler than that?

Sukhdev, majority of us windsurf all year-round. Best months are Oct.-Dec.
3/4mm wetsuit recommended for Jan.-Feb.
2/3mm wetsuit recommended for Mar.-Apr. & Nov.-Dec.
Shorts recommended for May.-Oct.

H2O, come and join us.  Not much comment on formula gear because I have not tried it yet, but I think it's still nice being able to plane and go fast in very light wind; our wave boards would sink.
