Finally I am going to speed week.
Preparation has been long and arduous with an odd day here and there sailing in the North Sea.
Boards are well polished and in (un) matching bags.
The new million dollar automatic (voice activated)  harness lines look good.
There are 4 rigs in many colours and last but not least....THE SKEGS
Oh My,  black and sleek, a bit battered and sadly only the 2.
I seriously hope this is not my downfall !!
Main target is to better the famous 38.2 mph in Karpathos in 1996 on an Energy XR and prove that you really do get faster as you get older.
Pray for wind (and a stall selling skegs)

GW,

all the best & other such sentiments. just make sure you don't mount the skegs back to front like Yew Chin Wah used to way back when. words and pictures please. ok i'm asking a bit much with the latter knowing the relationship you have with cameras (or lack thereof), but the former at least. as for skegs everyone calls them fins now and don't start with the footpegs nonsense either!  Grin

ah yes but I only did 4 runs yesterday against 10 the first day.......
just not the right eqpt....
I did try and fit a 3rd FIN (in yellow) but sadly the boxes were different sizes (arent they all ?) No spare mouses ears around here.
I'm hoping that I can get back on the 6.3 or better still the 5.1
Talking of SLE's Graham Fuller pitched up on one with a weird sail made by Simon Dawkins. It remains to be seen if it will be any good but as ever the lovely orange SLE looks great on the beach.
I had an in depth discussion with Bjorn about the RS boards and he said that i needed some new fins. He's changing the design next year to better suit my needs.
Big wind is forecast Friday and Sat

Gedgee

Arnt the sails made by Simon Dawkins the Demon design sails?

If it overtakes you, buy me a set.

Is that the original Graham Fuller? If so how old is he now?

So Bjorn is fitting an adjustable flex tail to his next year RS Boards?

Try again to fit the yellow fin, tried one myself, much faster, colour matters.

Looks like 20k + for Thur/Fri

Good luck, hope you are wearing your one piece lycra speed suit.

Well the slinky, slippery one piece Lycra (c/w integral extra large cricketers box)did nothing for my speed !
I dont think Dawkins has anything to do with Demon ?
Fuller is older than me..........and slow on his SLE and prototype sail.
BUT its great to see people keen enough to manufacture things in the search for better kit.
There were results on all 7 days.
If I read correctly my 31.92 left me in 16th over all out of 100. I think there were one or 2 other old farts above me.
Sadly, I did not better my 10 yr old PB from Karpathos. I wont make excuses about kit, 100 mter courses etc.
One interesting statistic was that on Friday Bjorn did his fastest run of the day (2nd run) at 10.58 and my first run of the day at 11.04 hrs was my fastest.
Weymouth is well worth a visit and any speed event is to be encouraged as there are no corners.
Oh and the Tee shirt........
Happy Days
