RS:X ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS CUM HONG KONG OPEN WINDSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2006

Preliminary Notice of Race
The event will be held from 25 - 31 october 2006.
Organizer
The event will be organized by the Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong (WAHK) and subvented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department.
Venue
The event will be based on Tung Wan of Cheung Chau Island. Weather conditions in October are expected to be 20 - 28°c with wind speed 6 - 20 knots depending on the time of the day. Water temperature is above 20°C.
Rules
This is an ISAF sanctioned event governed by:
The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2005 - 2008 ("RRS") including Appendix. B and Hong Kong Sailing Federation prescription;
The Class Rules of the participating Classes racing;
The Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions;
The event is classified as a category 'C' event as set out in the ISAF RRS Appendix 1.
Eligibility & Discipline
All entries shall meet the requirements of RRS Appendix 2.
RS:X Class, International Raceboard and International IMCO are open to all competitors who are members of their National Windsurfing Association or members of Windsurfing Club/Association affiliated to its National Windsurfing Association. A minimum of 4 completed races is required by each division for valid a championship in that divisions.
National Raceboard and National IMCO are only open to members of Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong who are ordinarily resident in Hong Kong. A minimum of 3 completed races is required by each division for valid a championship in that division.
Divisions
RS:X Class – Racing on equipment according to current RS:X Class Rules and it will include Divisions A,B& D.
International Raceboard 2004
International Raceboard 2005 – Racing on equipment according to Raceboard Class Rule 2005 (excluding RS:X Class)
International IMCO.
National Raceboard 2004 – Racing on equipment according to Raceboard Class Rule 2004.
National Raceboard 2005 – Racing on equipment according to Raceboard Class Rule 2005 (excluding RS:X Class).
National IMCO
Minimum of 5 entries to form a division.
Equipment
All competitors should bring their own equipment.
Measurement
It is the responsibility of each owner/competitor to ensure that his/her sailboard and equipment conforms to the current and relevant Class Rules. Measurement and equipment checks will be made throughout the event.
Identification on Sails
A boat shall comply with the requirements of RRS Appendix G governing class insignia, national letters and numbers on sails.
Buoyancy
If personal buoyancy is prescribed, each competitor shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with minimum buoyancy of 4kg un-inflated, in fresh water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a metal weight of 4kg, which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.
Liability
Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The Organizer or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives is not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.
Courses
Courses for each championship shall be as prescribed in the relevant class championship & racing guidelines or rules, or as described in the Sailing Instructions.
Sailing Instructions
The Championships Sailing Instruction will be available at registration with an event program scheduling social events.
Accommodation
The organizers will assist to arrange hotel or bungalow accommodation. Please contact WAHK office to get an Accommodation & Transportation Reservation Form for details.
Transportation
The organizers will assist to arrange transportation to and from the airport and the event venue. The charge is HK$500 (US$65) per competitor. Please contact WAHK office to get an Accommodation & Transportation Reservation Form for details.
Board/ supporting boat
There will be a very limited of boards and supported boats for rent. Please contact WAHK for more details.
Registration
The registration office during the regatta will be at the Tung Wan of Cheung Chau.
Entries
Competitors may enter in advance by mailing a Regatta Entry Form with their entry fees by 1 October 2006. Entries received after 1 October may be charged an additional late entry fee of HK$100.
