The Asian Windsurfing Tour, Presented by Neil Pryde
THE ULSAN INTERNATIONAL WINDSURFING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Asian Windsurfing Tour will reach its annual climax at the Ulsan International Windsurfing Championship in Korea in June. A fleet of over 200 windsurfers, including stars Dan Ellis and Jimmy Diaz are expected to attend.
This is only the second year that the Ulsan Championships have been held but they quickly established themselves as a major event in world windsurfing. A fleet of 200 competitors, 22 countries represented, live TV broadcasts in Korea, global broadcasts to over 170 million homes ~ it all adds up to a significant event in world windsurfing. In June there will be cross on-shore winds of 15-20 knots which are ideal for the downwind slalom that is the staple of AWT competition. Adding interest at the event this year are two other competitions ~ an Olympic RS:X division and a kiting contest.
Competition runs over four days with racing beginning on the 2 June (Registration Day: 1 June) and finishing on the 5 June. Each evening there is a full schedule of entertainment for the competitors and the welcome of the Ulsan people is always friendly. International competitors are being offered special rates on Korean Airlines including an exceptional 70kg baggage allowance. Free airport transfers are offered and accommodation is included in the $150 registration fee. So there’s little reason to stay away ~ come to the windy side of paradise and join the Asian Windsurfing Tour in Korea.
