IJ,

as usual, the Penang was 'guaranteed' to be a great competition cum holiday.

wind blew from 12 to 20+ kts. much ideal for Formula racing.

Marathon race was held on Friday. Wind was already picking up at 11 kts >. Course was a long upwind leg along the coast and then downwind back before shooting straight out towards M'sia mainland and before turning back again to finish.
Leong Soon aka Penang Mafia was neck and neck with Bo, 2005 Formula SEA Games Champion. Bo had a hard time shaking off Leong Soon through out the race.
Koo, Levi and Meng were in a group roughing out far (1 leg) behind for elusive 3rd placing.
Eventually, Bo and Leong Soon went to the wrong mark and that gave an opportunity for the lagging group to share the spoils.
in the end, Levi did a brillant tack and got 1st, Koo 2nd and Meng 3rd. Bo and Leong Soon finished 4th and 5th respectively, missing out the prize $. Total time taken = 50 mins.

the formula course racing commenced on Saturday and Sunday and was dominated by the Bo and Koo. 3rd prize was a tough tussle between Levi and Leong Soon.
3 huge races were run in 16-20> kts. Everyone was overpowered and tired enough to cancel the 4th race.
Sunday started in 10-14kts, Leong Soon's bad luck continued, he missed the start of the 1st race and encountered outhaul problem throughout, thus handed the 3rd prize to Levi.

The newbies from S'pore that joined us for the 1st time, also had a good time in Penang.
