I am the proud owner of a 2nd hand 186X which I plan to race recreationally. I am thinking of two new boards and would welcome comments. I am 95kg

For the high wind 4.7 to 6.2 Acid 94

For the moderate wind and for having fun the Carve 121 or 131. This I feel is the hardest decsion. Are the 131 really as goo as suggested - able to tolerate sailing with 6.2m sails? WHat fin would be recommended for this, as there may be days when the wind dies a little and the wave no longer goes when just changing boards would be ideal. My main sail would be Diabolo 7.4 but may want to push 8m+ in the future.

Cheers

Tom

131. With the 7.4 you will end up with a very versatile board. It can handle 8.x very easily, seen it stretched to being used with a 9.0 even. It has good speed, good upwind. Your 94 by the way can take up to a 6.2 wave sail, though of course a 5.8 or smaller would feel nicer.

Re fins the stock 48 works fine. If you want more speed you can go for a top quality race fin. Size wise you can step down to 44 or 42 for more maneauverability.
