Hi

I'd just started to surf lately and I'm thinking of getting my own sail to allow me up my watertime. However, I'm totally blown off with lots of technical details such as, length of mast for a particular sail, size of board to the weight of sailor... etc. I know, I'm really green in this area and my apologize to those who frowned to my equires. I really hope that someone can enlighten me in helping out in explaining to me on my queries below.

1. My weight is 75kg & 1.7m tall. As a beginner, what is the most appropriate size of my sail? Is the size of sail related to the board that I choose? Is a size 6.3 good for me? By the way, correct me if I'm wrong, the smaller the sail, the faster it is, hence bigger the sail has more control but once the sail dropped, good luck to the sailor. With addition enquires about the sail, what is the suitable mast size for me. Does the mast size depends on the sail size?

2. Referring back to my statistic above, I'm looking for wide board to practice, what are the size of the board shall I be looking for?

3. As I'll be learning to surf with my personal board, guess lots of parts will spoilt fast. Mind advice me on which part of the windsurf that I can invest on while other parts, I can just purchase a cheap one and change as I progress. I'd read that the mast and booms are very important and sailor may invest more in these 2 items. The sail is not necessarily be excellent for beginner stage. An ordinary one may do. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

4. Is it true that the purchase of a 2nd hand board usually does not comes with the mastfoot socket?

5. When, I went surfing last week, the wind is rather dead along the coast-line, till furthur out of the sea. Anyone know what is the average speed of the wind in singapore?

Thanks for taking your precious time reading this. TO be frank, I'm really in love with this sport and I really hope that someone can help me with these queries. Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Surf up!!!

Cheers

Thomas
