Is it ok to use smaller freeride sails on the starboard 186 like my diablo 6.7m Would I need to buy a smaller fin as well and would this make beam/broad reaching easier on the board. I'm 65kg so don't need a great deal of wind to get going but was curious how smaller gear would change the feel of a formula board.

Hi AJ, sure the 6.7 would work but its far from ideal. At your 65 kg the 186 is a pretty big board, a 6.7 would be used in pretty high winds in which case you would really want to be on a smaller board. If you do have to stretch the use of the 186 to that size sail, yes a 2nd fin other than the stock 70 would make sense, say a 60 or even 58.
