Hi, I'm from Bunbury in Western Australia (just 5 +2 hrs south of you all). I am formerly from Malaysia and have had plenty of contact over 7 years with paddlers and officials from Singapore through my former involvement with dragon boats (that's another story).  As a keen sailor and due to the present lack of facilities I am currently looking at the fesibility of setting up a water sport and recreation centre here in Bunbury.  The centre will contain a number of s/c chalets plus motel units.  It is in fact a small scale tourist village that is water-sports friendly and there will be for hire a range of boards and rigs (for hire) for beginners and intermediates.  We expect experts will either provide their own equipment or we can help them hire from windsurfing shops. Sailing will be on flat water in a very large but shallow estuary (mostly waist deep)so great for the confidence of beginners. Wind speed here in summer is mostly in the 8 - 20 knot range and temp 26 - 35 celcius.  In winter it can blow 30+ and you need a wet suit and be real keen.  My question is whether Singaporean sailors would consider travelling to WA to windsurf.  Other activities that will be catered for include kite surfing, kayaking, sailing on hobie cats, fishing with crabbing and prawning (seasonal)and cycling. What do you think?  Regards

Meng, I will get some shots of the estuary and surrounds inc some of the on water action (wind & kite surfers) to share with you all soon.  I may post it as a new topic.

I went there in early 90's for a competition.
Good place as far as I can remember.
Although a lack of wind for the weekend, we had a good time.
The best part was the Miss Bunbury contest in the Town Hall on Sat night.
There was some confusion when a couple of itinerant Pro sailors (who shall remain nameless)got into the Contestants changing room !!
I'd like to go back again for the season.
West Oz has an excellent calendar of events.
Good Luck
