I am considering buying a new board and like the Starboards. My heart says Go180, my pocket says Start 180. They seem to be the same shape with the Start being heavier with the ASA and adjustable fin. I will be planing in the footstraps and harness with this board. How much is the extra weight a factor for general recreational use?
Thankyou

Board weight makes a HUGE difference. 1kg in saving on the board makes for a totally different feel. Lighter hulls plane earlier, are easier to trim, feel more responsive etc. Hull weight is dead weight. If you can get in footstraps and harness then no question, go GO. If you really are at that stage then maybe also consider the free formula 158 unless the extra float is totally vital to you.
