Dear Sukhdev,

Thank you for that very good article on stance, it help me learn alot.

I would like to ask something which I am not clear. When you are saying rise up on the toe does it mean you lift your heel only or is it that the toes in the footstrap is used to push against the board? I'm sure its the latter cos the first doesnt seem to have much effect for me but would be glad to have your explanation.

Thank you in advance.

PS: This is one of the best windsurfing website on the internet.

Lifting the heels is not important in itself, its just an easy way to teach how to obtain toe pressure. The key thing is toe pressure, you have to only lightly unweight your heels to feel this. Consistent toe pressure helps to translate the drive you get through the harness hook to the board. It also allows for very sensitive trimming of the hull so that it sails flat, instead of tilted towards windwards as happens with alot of sailors who put weight on their heels.
