have fun! when are you guys going as conditions vary at different times of the year, wind is most consistent in june/july.
re where to stay, best place is on the stretch of houses on stable road, its a perfect sailing spot but costs a bit more. You can leave gear rigged on the lawn and sail off your front beach. There's lots of choice if you are willing to drive to the beach. I've got some contacts if you need them.
save on car rental, email me and & i'll give you some names. If you can just rent one minivan, this can seat instead of cars, takes 6 or 7 people easly and you save $$. don't bother renting one board for each person if the whole gang is going, you can share and save quite a bit. hawaiian island or hitech have good gear. stay somewhere where you can cook, a lot cheaper than eating outside. Chinese food in maui sucks.
kanaha is superb, flat water on the inside, gets choppier outside. If the wind is northerly go to kihei. Sprecks can get a bit silly so I generally don't sail there.
wear booties. coral cuts can mean a short painful sailing holiday.
call me if you guys need more info, several others go every year so we should be able to give you guys some detailed tips. don't forget to takes lots of pictures!

hi dolphin gang
go to COSTCO and load up on beer the very first day you land ! very cheap ! everything is large size including hagaan-daz icecream.
if you guys are cooking chinese, can easily get ingredients , herbs, spices from other local supermarket such as Foodland, etc. COSTCO is more for ang moh so can find alot of stuff such as meat, vegetables, bread, beer, drinks, etc.
another recommendation, the hawaiian coffee is first-class so stock up for getting over that hangover ! Don't forget that pack of macadamia nuts to go with the beer .
i was the 'accountant' during the trips and for 2 weeks stay for 10 people , we each spent total US$6 / day / pax on food !!!! baii cooked dinner on 9/10 days tho.
so envious ! hope u guys have lots of fun but remember to come back to singapore !
