Hi, I have been using an 8.4 for sometime and it is quite old. I am about 72kg and want to get a new sail, what size would be best for me? If I get 2 sizes what sizes would be the best?

8.4..hmm...that would be a V8 I guess? Without knowing what board you are sailing its hard to recommend. At your weight you should have no problem handling up to a 9.8 or even 10.5 if you are fit/experienced and assuming you have a board big enough. The GTX would be a good fit, so would the retro if you are looking for easy handling/rigging. For GTX say a 9.8/7.5 combo or 9.3/6.5 combo should do fine for most of our conditions.

Thanks Sukhdev. I have a few more question, is the jump from 9.3 to 6.5 too big? Also I notice from the Gaastra website the 6.5 GTX take 430 mast, can I use 460 on it?
Finally also, thanks for a great website, I think we appreciate how you help to build a windsurf community from all the different club.

9.3 to 6.5 is manageable, not ideal but if you want to save $ its a good jump. 2 years ago I used to regularly jump from the 11.2 NX on a formula to a 6.9 sailworks freestyle on the Freesex 96 - ok they are different types of sails but it gives you an idea of what is possible. In an ideal world, if you can afford it, go 9.3, 7.5, 6.0. We have 9.3, 7.5, 6.5 for demo so you if are local and unsure, try them out.
Re GTX 6.5, Ben Jr our repair guru has been sailing it alot. He is around your weight, a bit lighter maybe. In light conditions he finds the 460 ok but when its really windy he finds the 430 much more to his liking. Basically the 460 will work but you will get more top end and better control in high wind with the 430.
Thanks for the comments on the site; we welcome any suggestions for additions and improvements.
