Hi Guys

Just back from Kuntan and the guys there all had a great time. It was a also a good get together again with the Malaysia sailors. They are very good.

Everyday since last Tuesday was a 6.0m day. Though I love my big board/sail but given the wind condition, SLALOM is FUN.  So how strong was the wind ? For sure it exceeded the Singapore scale. You see no bird flying, sands was blowing off the beach. I was told last Wednesday was stronger when up the roller, you could see water sprays and sailors close distance not able to see each other because of the high waves.

There was a broken mast incident out in the open sea. Salute to Chris to toll the sailor and equipment back on a 80Lit board. I correct myself there was no bird flying but a superoldbird sailing. So not to forget yr Self-Rescue skills, you need to apply if necessary even on RAF/Cambered sails. What he did was to tie the uphaul rope to the tower board footstraps. Some says it will be better to tie to the mast track provided if you have a spare line ( maybe the downhaul rope could be used to extend ).

The HyperS perform well. it takes the chops well but the legs work very hard to hold the lift from the stock 34 fin. Sorry to my friend that injured his knee, but thankful to him to let me use his Pulse 6.0m. Being overpowered on a 6m is an experience worth remembering,  Interesting to see the HS jumping off, with the short fat nose it looks like a flying saucer. Good speed and good fun. Just don't crash !

Today on the way back, wind look as promising , Those that stayed back will have more stories to tell.

Was it a red Pulse 6.0 that your friend just recently bought? Sounds like a very familiar sail...

Glad you had fun out there...

Hi Nick

Happy New Year - Yes it was the Red Pulse.
Good experience on a RAF. With the High cut at the bottom , it helps to spill the excess wind especially when overpowered going out facing the incoming chops.
