Hiya, Well I believ like yourself that a good twin cam is good enough on hyper, but what about some of the freerace no cams out there on the market!!!

Will they work well, do they have enough bottom end power to power up such a wide board eg 76cm in 8.5 or 9m??

Whats your thoughts???

Allan, only freerace no cam I've tested on the hyper is the Sailworks Retro (2002 and 2003); though I hope to be testing the GTR on it soon.

For the Retro at least I believe it actually has more bottom end than most cammed sails; it can be rigged to generate tons of low end. The 9.0 works well on the hyper though I prefer to rig it over the downhaul specs (about 4cm over specs) and use additional outhaul to create a smooth foil. I'm a believer in the "rig for speed and pump like mad if you need power" school.  Rigging for pure low end on a speed oriented board like the Hyper (or any slalom hull) results in a heavy feeling, draggy rig once apparent wind sets in.
