Whoa, I almost forgot... yesterday a local windsurfer, whom I trust and respect, suggested that rather than just saying "PA sucks", I should have explained what I meant, in a less direct way, and perhaps then certain simple people mightn't have been so aggressve in their responses.
So, with the gracious co-operation of the local windsurfing community, I would like to humbly retract my earlier statement that PA sucks the poo out of a sad old doggies butt, and replace it with this:
To ME (a personal opinion only, although it is actually shared by lots of others I know) the PA facility is a big grey block of concrete which is purely functional and not an especially nice place to spend lazy afternoons waiting for the wind, nor particularly suited to the general mind-set of windsurfing as I have come to know it (unlike Pasta Fresca)(I really don't like concrete at the beach! I like grass and sand and wooden buildings, etc.);
it's inaccessible unless you have a car or happen to live on the airport bus route;
it has no hawker centre nearby;
it doesn't have a rescue service 365 days a year;
it's not even OPEN 365 days a year;
you have to detach your boom when you hang up your sail (oh the inconvenience!);
it's too crowded;
there's no privacy in the showers (maybe I'll just wear a poncho);
and most of all WE ARE NOT GOING THERE BY CHOICE BUT BECAUSE OUR BELOVED PASTA FRESCA IS BEING CLOSED DOWN!!!!!!!!!!
I rest my case. And I'm quite ok if I don't make too many new friends there, because I'll be bringing plenty of old ones with me.
