Internal reply from SSC as at 10 Mar 06:

"We are still in discussion with the land authority and pending Management decision. Thanks."

If PF goes adios, will Bluefinz come back and take over ? At least there was improvement during that time.

Goedemorgen!

What's happening in Sg? Regardless of whether PF remains there selling pizzas, what is more important is whether the authority in charge of that piece of land is going to further kill windsurfing by using the place for some other purpose. Some bad decisions in the past had already done major damage to the beautiful and unique place.

To the old timers of the club, please do something to savage whatever is still remaining. Election is coming soon isn't it? surely our govt will be more willing to listen to the citizens, no?

Nick,

I would like to say that the government here doesn't really listen to what people say, unless it has told them what to say first...but I don't want to sound critical of what is, overall, such a great country.

*AHEM* I'm getting off the track a bit here. I just meant to say, PLEASE everybody go and sign the petition at Pasta Fresca, and keep your ears open for further developments. What else can we do? Probably not much. I hate feeling so helpless. I cannot imagine life without Pasta Fresca.

No offense to anyone, but I think the best way to sway SSC in its decision making is for someone or some company to come up with a feasible and sustainable business plan. This way, SSC can see that there is capable management that is willing to take over the running of PF and not let it be run into the ground.

Whatever plan SSC has in mind, I'm sure windsurfing will only be an afterthought considering the attidude SSC always had towards windsurfing.

OK guys, just a feedback. Today, a bunch of guys/gals were spotted surveying the club. According to Uncle Robert, they were from the sports council. No idea bout what they are planning yet though, but its pretty obvious they are interested in the place. For what? No one knows yet. Keeping fingers crossed here...

But Mouz, I hear Founding Father Raymond Lim was there too, no? There's talk of him and fellow Founding Father KS swooping in and taking over. I, for one, am all for that scenario.

Not too sure if it's him Robert was talking to but he did tell me he is one of the founders. I overheard the conversion about the club actually, he sounds interested but he also commented that the cards are still in government's hand at the moment and something needs to be done to convince the government to keep that area as a windsurfing club if anyone wants to keep it as one. Only thing i know of that is done at the moment to convince the government is the petition that is going around. It's not much but still better than nothing... til someone else comes up with something better of course.

absolutely right, there's a whole strecth of beach at Ecp to expand on.

It would be a great loss to windsurfers at PF, and to make matters worse ... there's no where else to turn to but PA ..which is probably 99% full house =(

Who can save PF ?

If some brilliant guys/gals could come out with a vision !!! and a master plan and submit to the council that may be able to save PF or upgrade to better PF incorporate with the governments plan??
Any suggestion would be great ...

My personal view:

Most windsurfers just want to go down
during the weekends to relax n enjoy
after 5 days at work.

Who will be committed enough to help
organize PF unless he/she is paid to do
it full time?

If we compare sailing and windsurfing,
it is not that difficult to see that
the former is much much more organized.

There is no structure program or anything
similar to bring windsurfing to the masses.
Right now, only PA is conducting regular
basic courses.

Let's pray that someone will help to get
some program for beginners to achieve
some standards and this hopefully in turn
will build up the number of windsurfers
in Singapore.

Talk Only, I think u r wrong about 1 thing; windsurfing facilities need to be available 7 days a week for those of us who have managed to structure our working lives around windsurfing, and for tourists, students etc to use as well. There are a lot of us who go down to Pasta Fresca in the afternoons on weekdays and who would be very unsatisfied without our mid-week fix.

It's hard enough that we are generally expected to be out of the water by 6pm, but we have to consider the rescue team...

As for the lack of instruction, as long as capable people take over, I'm sure the current inadequacies can be addressed.
